National (Worldwide)

Founded in and chartered by Congress in 1919, The American Legion is the world’s oldest and largest nonprofit veterans organization.  Proudly boasting 2.4 million members we take seriously the responsibility of caring for those who serve and have served our nation in the military.  The Preamble to The American Legion starts, “For God and Country, We associate ourselves together for the following purposes…”

What follows can be summed up with the Four Pillars of our organization.  They are Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children and Youth.  The GI Bill and the Department of Veterans Affairs are here today because of The American Legion.  Like any structure, all of the Four Corners of our Foundation must be serviced to allow our house to stand.  We care for our veterans!

We believe in the Founding Fathers goals for our country and its citizens.  Even though our military service maybe over, our service to our nation and brothers and sisters continues.  More information on The American Legion can be found at
